Who our coaches are

Embla coaches hold advanced degrees in fields like medical physiology, nutrition, sports psychology, and behavioral health. Many come from leadership roles at respected digital health organizations. Others bring backgrounds in clinical practice, personal training, and occupational health.


They're trained in ACT and CBT-based methods, experienced in the full psychological complexity of weight loss, and backed by a full clinical team — physicians, nurses, and researchers — who collaborate directly through our proprietary care platform.

1. We treat the whole person

We don't believe in "eat less, move more" as a strategy. Weight gain is multifactorial — and so is weight loss.


Coaches work with each member to understand what's actually driving their patterns: nutrition, sleep, stress, emotional eating, autopilot habits, lack of routine. Then we co-create a real-world plan — one that adapts to life, not the other way around.

2. We’re grounded in evidence

Our coaches bring clinical training in ACT and CBT-based methods, stepwise goal setting, and research-backed dosing strategies. 

And we contribute to the research too.

Our team co-authored the TRIM study: 2,694 real-world participants, 16.7% average weight loss at 12 months, using one-third of the standard GLP-1 dose.

3. We meet members
where they are

Some need to build a routine from scratch. Some need to rebuild trust with food. Some are burned out from years of trying.


There's no set script. Coaches identify the right things to work on at the right time — through regular 1:1 check-ins, tailored habit plans, and in-app tracking that surfaces what's actually changing.

4. We support tapering, not dependency

We plan for tapering from day one — because when GLP-1s taper, appetite often returns. Without the right support, so does weight.


Coaches prepare members with nutrition strategies, habit reinforcement, and mindset work so the transition holds. 78.5% of members successfully tapered or stopped medication, with no average weight regain.

The clinical team behind every coach — physicians, nurses, psychologists, researchers — isn't just a safety net. It's what makes the coaching more precise. Side effects get flagged. Doses get adjusted.
